About me
I teach sociology and criminology and I’ve been working with students at both A-Level and GCSE for many years. I’m part of the tutor2u team, and I love helping young people make sense of their subjects and feel more confident about their exams.
My teaching style is down-to-earth and straightforward. I believe students learn best when lessons are clear, structured, and engaging, so I focus on breaking tricky topics into manageable chunks and linking them to real-life examples. I always encourage questions and discussion, because that’s when students really start to think for themselves.
I also know how stressful exams can be. That’s why I spend time showing students exactly what examiners are looking for and giving them strategies to approach questions with confidence. By practising together and breaking down mark schemes, I help students turn knowledge into top-quality answers.
Here I am speaking with Katie about choosing optional topics and the possible benefits or pitfalls of choosing the more niche topics:
Above all, I want every student I work with to feel supported, encouraged, and capable of achieving their goals. For me, teaching isn’t just about covering the syllabus, it’s about sparking curiosity, building confidence, and helping young people believe in themselves.
